Let’s start out on a positive note and discuss what I think went well for this lab. In general, out of all of the world’s phenomena, I would say that I probably understand technology the least, especially anything that isn’t extremely straightforward and immediately intuitive. Keeping this in mind, I’m pretty proud of what I was able to come up with in the two hours that it took me to make this cube. It’s not amazing (especially compared to some of the other designs people submitted) — There is obvious room for improvement, but overall, I do think I learned a lot from this lab and, at the very least, I feel as if I have a better understanding of the software than I did before the lab. Hopefully, in the future, with this improved understanding, I can focus more on design details. One obstacle that I faced during this lab was the fact that it took me a while to figure out how to maneuver the software. Maybe if you’re used to the software or similar software, you find it quite simple, but I personally found it really frustrating and hard to get used to. Every time I wanted to adjust the view or the angle of the design, it was quite a struggle, and so figuring out how everything works took up most of my time. Next lab, I am hoping that I am able to build on what I’ve learned from this lab. I used quite a bit of outside resources to help me understand the software, and I was really pleasantly surprised by exactly how much information was available online and accessible to me as I was figuring everything out. I’m not sure if there’s much more to say– this class definitely exercises skills that I clearly do not use enough, and I’m looking forward to gaining more of an understanding as I go along. I also, for the life of me, could not figure out how to upload the design properly (I will ask about this in office hours), so here is a screenshot.
The cube in question:

As someone who knows their way around a computer and program capabilities, I can safely say that Fusion 360 was pretty confusing and frustrating at times to navigate. If I had seen this rough model of a dice before this class, however, I would have been very impressed! Especially since we were given a rather right turn-around for learning a whole new software.
I’m not sure if you did this or not, but it was very helpful for me to do work on this modeling assignment with other students from the class. My roommates and I are all in the class and we worked on our models together and helped each other out when we couldn’t figure out certain functions or features.
I can relate to your experiences! It took me a really long time to figure out the software and be able to maneuver my way through it, too. Your cube looks great and the dots on the die look nicely positioned, as well. I agree that using outside resources to help understand the software better is super useful!
