What are your shared values? Shared goals?
We are interested in collecting and analyzing data on the most popular majors at Carleton College throughout the years. Our group consists of Adam Mahabir, Kyra Landry, Daniel Estrada, Rowen Hinrichs and Cuong Chi Tran. We are hoping to visualize the data using Flourish to create a Bar Chart Race of the most popular majors over time, although that remains amenable to changes as more information becomes available for us.
What will you expect from each other?
We hope that everybody will spend as much time as possible contributing to this project without compromising on their other classes. We would communicate clearly when any troubles arise for everyone to think together about a solution. We expect our group to complete the barebone early so that we would have time to both review the result and refine its aesthetic. We expect that we’ll get an A at the end for our efforts.
How will you communicate?
We plan to use WhatsApp for quick communication and a shared Google Doc to collaborate on the project. For when we are working on the project itself, we might send each other updates through WhatsApp or start a Zoom call and share our screens for real-time working. Further details will be considered later after we hashes out our plan.
How will your team handle disagreement?
We will try our best to discuss the problem and come into a compromise. In the worst case scenario where compromise couldn’t be made, we would use a vote to decide on the final course of action.
How will you divide responsibilities?
Each of us will have different responsibilities and tasks to help complete the project. We will all have the ability to call meetings and hold each other accountable for completing our tasks. Kyra will be responsible for accessing the data. Cuong and Adam will take initiative to clean and process the data. Daniel and Rowen will format the visualizations and prepare the presentation. We all chose tasks that represent our strengths and left the other tasks to those who are better suited for it.
