This quote has grabbed my attention because it resonates with me anecdotally. When choosing this course, I was simply looking for a course that seemed interesting to me. The main aspect of the course that seemed interesting was the digital aspect, I am mainly interested in learning how to use the digital tools taught in this course. However, I had not considered how useful these tools were to the Arts and Humanities. Through the readings, projects, and in-class discussions I have gained a sense of just how transformative digitalization is to the Humanities both in the way research data can be processed and the way the findings can be presented.
What elements of your past experiences, current interests, or future plans did it kindle?
As someone who is more interested in digital arts this almost sudden realization made me interested in how creative I can become with any of my own work in any future Digital Arts projects. Learning new ways in which projects can be presented creates a new way of thinking and give entirely new approaches to the Digital Arts. This new approach can not only reform the nature of the projects but can even give ideas to new projects entirely.
Under the large umbrella of Digital (Arts &) Humanities, which areas of inquiry, methods or techniques are you most eager to pursue this term and why?
I am most eager to learn new Data Visualization techniques and Humanities Gaming. I think I am most interested in these as they will allow me to engage with the humanities in a completely new way. Though I may not have as much experience in the humanities, I do have some experience and a greater interest in Data Visualisation(from an intro to computer science course) and Gaming. I think these will give me a greater appreciation for the humanities.
