This process changed my understanding of the spatial DH projects I explored earlier. By overlaying an older map of Italy onto present-day Italy, it became easier to visualize how certain areas have changed over time. This was especially true in terms of population growth and expansion of cities. For example, I was able to compare the size of certain cities in the older map to their size in the present day, and how they have grown or declined over the decades.

WMTS, TileJSON, or XYZ files are offered for easy access to processed maps, and ArcGIS, QGIS, or web programs can easily use this map with web map services. Here is a link to the page.

Additionally, I was able to identify areas that have shifted in terms of their geographical boundaries and political divisions. Once you have a georectified map, there are many possibilities. It can be used to answer a variety of research questions and analyze various aspects of the landscape. For example, it could be used to examine population growth, land use patterns, or changes in political boundaries. Additionally, it could be used to identify areas of economic opportunity or areas of environmental risk, or to study the effects of climate change or natural disasters.

Although it would not be good to explore research questions that require high accuracy.
Inaccurate maps can be dangerous to getting correct results and lead to inaccurate research and decisions. They can lead to wrong conclusions and inaccurate results. They can be misleading and cause false assumptions or errors in the research process. Overall, inaccurate maps can lead to inaccurate research and dangerous decisions, and should be avoided at all costs.

I think that this project was really cool and I used to love looking at maps as a child. I first got into them when looking at the maps in the Lord of The Rings books. In addition, I appreciated how user friendly the website was as I anticipated it to be harder to use then it was. Maybe this was because I was getting surgery instead of in class! Regardless, I really enjoyed this assignment and found it really informing.
